Lynchburg - Seminole District and Region 3 volleyball champion E.C. Glass is headed to Friday's state semifinals in Richmond. The Hilltoppers beat defending state champion Cave Spring in four games Tuesday to earn their Final Four spot.
Glass won the first game 25-21, with Cave Spring bouncing back to take game two 25-23 to even the match at one game apiece. The Hilltoppers pulled out a tight game three 25-20. Cave Spring bolted to an early lead in game four, only for E.C. Glass to roar back and win the game 25-20 and clinch the match. Paige Riley, Seminole District Player of the Year, had 34 assists and 15 digs for Glass, Sarah Thomas had 18 kills and 5 blocks. Ali Johnson had a big game for the Hilltoppers with 22 digs. Glass advances to Friday night's 6:30 semifinal at VCU's Siegel Center in Richmond. The Hilltoppers will face Loudoun County in the semifinals, Loudoun County blanked New Kent 3-0.
