Lynchburg - E.C. Glass and Amherst County played a five-game marathon volleyball match Thursday night at Glass, with the Hilltoppers coming from a 2-1 deficit to win the final two games and the match 3-2.
The first three games were all decided by just two points, Amherst won the first 29-27, Glass the second 26-24, then Amherst the third 25-23 to grab a 2-1 lead.
But Glass took charge in game four to win big 25-14, then carried the momentum into the fifth and deciding game, rolling 15-5 to capture the win. Alyssa Morris led Glass with 19 kills, Katherine Johnston had 36 assists. Kelsey Plankeel added 9 kills for the Hilltoppers, sister Rebecca Plankeel 8 kills. MacKenzie Pigg was one of the Lancers who put up big numbers, recording 10 kills.
E.C. Glass improves to 5-and-6 overall with the win, 3-and-1 in the Seminole District.
