Lynchburg - It was a special Wednesday afternoon at E.C. Glass as the Hilltopper family honored longtime track and cross country coach Rod Camden. Camden was recognized for 41 years of coaching and many more years of helping the growth of cross country and track in the state. Rod may have retired as a coach but he's not going anywhere. He'll continue teaching calculus at Glass as he's done the past 42 years and will help out as a track meet director and official whenever he can. Running and E.C. Glass are in Rod's blood for good.
Rod Camden, 41-YEAR COACHING VETERAN, said "I actually started off just to coach for four or five years and then look for something else. But I was so happy in the classroom and at the track here at E.C. Glass that I really didn't want to do anything else but stay here and enjoy working with the student athletes."
