E.C. Glass Chamber Choir Reaches Goal for Carnegie Hall
Lynchburg, VA - After a lot of hard work, Lynchburg's EC Glass High School Chamber Choir has raised enough money to get to Carnegie Hall next month. The group is one of only five schools picked to perform at the prestigious music hall. They first set out to raise 60-thousand dollars... but then scaled back their plans-- with a cheaper hotel and one less night.
After numerous fund raisers and tremendous community support.. they hit their new goal of 36-thousand.
"To be singing in Carnegie Hall is just absolutely one of the best opportunities to have as a singer, performer, or in general," says choir member Isabella Jackson, a junior at the school. The students have to pay for their own meals, unless they raise enough money through two more fund raisers. They're holding a car wash and bake sale tomorrow morning at Doyle's Florist on Langhorne Road. And Monday evening, McDonald's is pitching in.
