Driver of an SUV Crashes into Danville Bank Building, Charges Pending
Danville, VA - The Danville Police Department is investigating what may have caused an orange SUV to speed off of Riverside Drive, ultimately crashing into a nearby bank building early Saturday morning.
According to police, at approximately 2:39 a.m., someone called to complain about an orange SUV running her off the roadway Hummer near the McDonalds on Old Riverside Drive.
Officers spotted the SUV when it proceeded to go towards Mount Cross Road and the entrance to the Danville Mall. Police say the male driver then accelerated and ran 150 feet across the front lawn and across the parking lot of the American National Bank Administrative Offices.
Police say the driver of the SUV, Kadeem Clark, 22, of Milton N.C., sped off. The officer was unable to catch up to the vehicle, but located the SUV crashed into the front doors of the American National Bank building on Tower Drive.
The driver crashed into the bank building's front glass entrance, causing considerable damage.
Units from the Danville Fire Department and the Danville Lifesaving Crew responded to extricate the driver and transport him to the Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his face and head.
A passenger in the vehicle was also transported to the Danville Regional Medical for treatment of injuries as a result of the crash, police said.
The Danville Police Department is investigating and alcohol may be a contributing factor. Charges are pending.
