Dozens of People Injured When Car Crashes Into Damascus Parade

Damascus, VA- Dozens of people were hurt after a car drove into the crowd at a parade near the Virginia-Tennessee border Saturday.

It happened in Damascus during the Hiker's Parade at the city's annual Trail Days Festival. An emergency official reports 50 to 60 people were injured by the accident.

No deaths have been reported. The injuries range from critical to minor. Three of the victims were airlifted to regional hospitals. Another 12 to 15 were taken by ambulance.

The status of the driver has not been released. Several witnesses described him as an elderly man, and officials say he might have suffered a medical emergency before the accident.
