South Boston, VA - The Summer Theatre Series at The Prizery in South Boston is set to kick off next week thanks to some generous donors.

Just a few months ago, they were afraid of losing this series due to funding. But they were able to use the web-based kick starter program to help raise $26,000 in 14 days.

Then another $60,000 came in from other corporations, which helped them to keep their doors open.

They say that a lot of people have been impacted by the series, having children or grandchildren who have gotten an opportunity to work with a professional company.

"Those people say there's no way we are not gonna have Summer Theatre, so they pitched in and made the kick starter successful which made the Summer Theatre happen," said Chris D. Jones, artistic director.

The Summer Theater Series kicks off with a production of Cinderella. Get more information on The Prizery's website.
