Dogs Compete in Agility Trials in Lynchburg

Lynchburg, VA - The rain didn't keep a group of people and their dogs from being out Sunday.

The Dog Owners Training Club of Lynchburg hosted its spring dog agility trials at the Boonsboro Ruritan Club.

Dogs are tested on several skills during the three-day event. They compete in different levels, depending on size and skill.

They go through different obstacles like jumps and tunnels.

Organizers say there are a lot of benefits in taking your dog through agility training .

"Dogs really love it, and the people really love it. And it bonds you and your dog together, and it's great exercise for the both of you," said Judy Smotrel, treasurer of the nonprofit organization.

The dog agility trials event will be in June in Lynchburg. The group also holds courses where your dog can go through agility training.
