Does UVa Want to be Like Michigan State?

NEW YORK - UVa's Tony Bennett has built his program on toughness and defense. Friday night they might see a mirror image of themselves in Michigan State.

The stats don't lie. Ever since Tom Izzo first led the Spartans to the Sweet 16 in 1998, they've been a top notch program. Since then they've been to 17 straight NCAA Tournaments, 12 Sweet 16s, 6 Final Fours and they won it all once in 2000. UVa - in that same span - doesn't match up.

When asked, does UVa want what Michigan State has establish, UVa senior Joe Harris said, "Yeah definitely. Who wouldn't? Michigan State has one of the best programs in all of college basketball. That's what we're trying to get to. That's why coach Bennett came to Virginia so he could establish something like that and get to where Michigan State's at."
