James River Death Ruled Accidental Drowning
Amherst Co., VA - The medical examiner has ruled the cause of death of a Delaware woman pulled from the James River Monday was an accidental drowning.
The autopsy on Hope Stoeckel, 69, was completed Tuesday.
The medical examiner says they're prohibited from saying whether a secondary medical condition contributed to the drowning.
The Amherst County Sheriff's Office says Stoeckel was tubing with the James River Float Company when she slipped out of her tube near Percival's Island and didn't resurface.
Stoeckel was pronounced dead on the scene.
