Danville Public Schools Employee Gets Probation for Welfare Fraud
Pittsylvania Co., VA - A Pittsylvania County woman gets three years on probation for receiving a large sum of welfare benefits while working for Danville Public Schools.Cathy Myers was indicted on five counts of welfare fraud after she received roughly $16,000 in Medicaid and SNAP benefits.
Her annual salary was $45,000 from the school system.
She underreported how much money she made.
Prosecutor David Grimes says it was one of the county's largest welfare fraud cases in recent memory.
Myers was sentenced to eight years in jail, but all was suspended.
