Danville Residents Displaced by House Fire

Danville, VA- Several Danville residents were displaced by a fire Saturday afternoon on the city's North side.

Officials say fire crews responded around 3:45 p.m. to find a two-story home with heavy smoke coming showing. Firefighters talked to a resident outside the home who told them another person was still inside the house. After searching for the resident, crews determined that person wasn't at home when the fire started.

We're told the house sustained moderate damage. The Red Cross is helping the residents with temporary housing. The Fire Marshall's Office says the fire was caused by misuse of smoking materials.
