Danville Public Schools Superintendent Makes Decision on George Washington High School Schedule

Danville, VA-- For many months, students at George Washington High School in Danville didn't know what kind of school schedule they would have next school year. But now, they know.Danville Schools Superintendent, Dr. Edward Newsome announced this week that students will have a seven period day for the 2014- 2015 school year. That will give the staff at the high school a full year to plan and prepare for a 4x4 hybrid block schedule for the 2015-2016 school year. This decision came after a 20 member parent committee proposed a schedule change. The superintendent said the two-year plan will provide the necessary time to ensure they offer a strong academic program and continue their collaboration with students, staff, parents, and the community.A letter detailing the master schedule for George Washington High School was sent home on Monday with all students and posted on the George Washington High School website.
