Danville Post Office Closes Because Of Safety Issues

Danville, VA -- The Main Street Post Office in Danville is closed right now after failing an inspection.

According to Spokesperson Cathy Yarosky, the post office regularly has inspection checks. But the Main Street location didn't pass this last test because they found old paint may contain lead or asbestos. Yarosky says employees and customers are not in danger though. But crews do have to come out and repair it.
Throughout the day Monday, customers stopped by but were re-directed to the Teal Court location.
"We don't know exactly when the work will start nor when the office will reopen. However, it will not have any effect on residential or business delivery or collections," said Yarosky.
Starting Tuesday, you have to pick up your P-O Box items at the main location on Teal Court.
