Danville Police K-9 Used To Locate Missing Teen With Special Needs

Danville, VA - A Danville Police Department K-9 was able to successfully locate a special needs teen in a heavily wooded area off Hemlock Drive in Pittsylvania County Thursday night.

At around 7:15 in the evening, Danville officers were notified of a missing teen just outside of the city in Pittsylvania County.

Officers were directed to the location in which the child, a 17 year old with non-verbal autism was last seen.

The K-9 unit was requested and the Officer and his K-9 partner, Shark, began a track which ultimately ended in a dense thicket off of Hemlock Drive.

The juvenile was missing shoes and articles of clothing but had no serious injury.

Pittsylvania County Deputies responded with the Danville officers and returned the child to care givers.
