Danville Police Continue Search for Convenience Store Robbers

Danville, VA - There are new details about two robberies that took place in Danville Friday night.

Police say the Fas Mart on Piney Forest Road, and Wilco on South Boston Road were both hit within about 35 minutes of one another.

Quick "smash and grab" robberies are all too common situations at many the convenience stores.

Wilco was robbed back in August.

On Friday police say in both cases the suspect pointed a handgun at an employee, took cash, and fled the scene.

They say in both cases there was also a second person who held the door open and acted as a lookout.

Officials say they are unsure if the two robberies are connected, but say, the suspects physically favor one another.

Danville police have some advice if you ever find yourself in a situation like this.

"If they've addressed you and they see you and then you have to pretty much follow their direction until you can find a place or time to escape. And if they haven't seen you, if you can get away to where they can't see you would be best," said Lt. J.T. Henderson.

Police say there were no injuries in the robberies, which are still under investigation.

If you have any information about either of these robberies, you're in encouraged to call Danville Crimestoppers at (434) 793-0000.
