Danville, VA - A Danville Police officer has received state recognition for how he handled an incident earlier this year.

The Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police presented Corporal Samuel Bray with the Award for Valor yesterday.

He was one of nine recipients.

In January, Bray chased a suspect with a gun, who ended up pointing the weapon at him. He shot and killed the man, who was later linked to a deadly shooting nearby.

Bray's willingness to pursue Waller and his instructions to keep other officers safe are what earned him the award.
