Danville Man Rescued from River After Court Appearance

Danville, VA - Danville Police say a man escaped his court appearance Tuesday morning by running into the Dan River.

According to police, 46-year-old Anthony Falden was facing cocaine possession charges.

They say his attorney informed him about another paper that needed to be served, and that's when he left the court room. He ran to the river and went in about 20 feet.

Police say Falden was very distraught, and was later rescued by holding onto a buoy that was pulled in by police. No additional charges will be filed.

Police say he is at the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
