Danville, VA - The City of Danville kicked off a month-long campaign on Thursday called Make Danville Shine.The goal is to encourage residents to take pride in their city, and do some sprucing up around their neighborhoods.The city held a Make Danville Shine Expo on Thursday to offer home maintenance and home improvement tips to the public. There were more 30 experts on hand in fields ranging from landscaping to electrical. Organizers said a cleaner city means it's more marketable. "As we're trying to attract business and attract jobs, they look at the overall city and how things look, and whether or not it's clean and the condition of the buildings and things like that. As we're trying to attract better jobs, we really want to show a pride in our city," said Emily Scolpini, Housing and Development Planning Specialist for the City of Danville.Just for the month of May, Danville Public Works is collecting oversized piles of separated yard waste and household debris at your curb.
