Danville Hosts Conference On Using Broadband To Help Economy

Danville, VA-- Nearly 300 hundred leaders in the advanced broadband industry came to Danville on Thursday, to learn more about how technology is helping the community.

The Community Fiber Networks Conference was held at Institute for Advanced Learning.

Leaders said the conference was a way to share with the community how obtaining a broadband network can be good for the community.

"We're focusing on projects that have proven record of creating jobs , keeping employers from moving out of communities," said the program chair for the conference Jim Baller.

Danville got its broadband network ten years ago, and city officials said it definitely helped revitalize the economy. The conference will also be held on Friday.
