Danville, VA-- As Hurricane Sandy potentially heads our way, the city of Danville wants to ensure their residents that crews are prepared.
City officials have been monitoring the storm very closely. They say because of the hurricane's size, Danville will be impacted somehow, so precautions have been taken.
In case of power outages, they have utilities on stand-by. Also, public works is making sure their equipment is ready to go.
"We're making sure that if trees go down, that the chain saws are in working order and the blades are sharp," said Danville City Public Information Officer Arnold Hendrix. "We want to make sure we have our barricades ready. Our pumps that might pump the water in flooded areas, they're in working order."
Danville is encouraging residents to take some time on Sunday to build their storm kit.
