Danville Fire Department Rescue Team Training on High-Risk Accidents
Danville,VA--It's not too often that a car gets stuck under a tractor trailer, but just in case crews in Danville want to be ready.The Danville Fire Department hosted the Department of Fire Programs training course at Blairs Fire and Rescue this week. For three days, the Technical Rescue Team and 10 other rescue teams from across Virginia were learning how to stabilize large vehicles if they overturn.They were also learning how to safely get a car and passenger out from underneath a large vehicle. Danville Battalion Chief Michael Jefferson said it's the toughest training course the team has to take. "A lot of heavy equipment, a lot of heavy lifting and a lot of back-breaking work," said Jefferson.This kind of training happens once a year. Their last day of training is Thursday.
