Danville Church Helping 'Pack the Bus'

Danville, VA - One church in Danville is spending the next couple of weeks trying to get as many school supplies to their local school divisions.

Riveroak Church of God was outside Walmart Saturday asking for help to fill this bus with supplies.

So far, members have collected $700 worth of school supplies in what's called the "Community Pack the Bus Campaign", but volunteers say they need much more.

"We are hoping that we are able to equip our children with the supplies that they need to succeed in school. It's very exciting to start school, but not so exciting if you don't have the utensils you need to get you where you need to be," said volunteer Jennifer Dowdy.

The bus will be set up at many other locations. Church members are also accepting monetary donations, which will be used to buy more school supplies.

The collection spots and dates are as follows:

Chick-fil-a - Tuesday, August 13 from 5 to 7p.m.

Walmart - Saturday, August 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sam's Club - Saturday, August 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To send a monetary donation, send a check to:
