Danville Cancer Association Looking for More Cancer Study Volunteers

Danville, VA - A local push for volunteers to participate in a nationwide cancer study is heating up.

The American Cancer Society is starting a 20-year study to see how environmental and lifestyle factors affect cancer diagnoses.

The Danville Cancer Association was hoping to sign up 150 volunteers and they are 30 people shy of reaching that goal.

Officials with VCU's Massey Cancer Center say Danville and Pittsylvania County have a higher incidence and mortality rate for cancer than the rest of the state.
