The executive director of the Danville Area Boys and Girls Club, Faith Stamps, said they got an anonymous donation through the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region to spruce up their facility.
This summer they've given their gym a new look. They changed the walls from bright orange, to white and gray. Their computer lab and some of the exterior of the building also got a fresh coat of paint. Many areas in the building have been re-carpeted.
One room they're excited about is their kitchen. It's not renovated yet, but with the help of the donation and the Lowe's Heroes project, their kitchen will soon be completely remodeled.
"The associates at Lowe's and event their contractors are going to come in and volunteer and are going to help us rebuild our kitchen. We're really excited about that," Stamps said.
In the next three to four weeks their gym will also get new safety padding. Stamps said the youth are noticing the significant changes, and are taking a sense of pride with their building.
