Danville Boy Collecting Money for Haiti School

Danville, VA -- A Danville 12-year-old has taken it upon himself to help build a school in Haiti.

Jarrett Johnson is a 6th grader at Westover Christian Academy. His parents are the founders and directors of God's Pit Crew.
Jarrett's father took him to Haiti where he saw the school conditions in that country. It really hit home for Jarrett, so he has been on a mission to raise one hundred thousand dollars to build a new school. Next month, he is kicking off his campaign called Kidz for Kidz Change for Change -- by holding a benefit concert. The money will go towards building that school.
"We have so much and they have so little. I know how we always complain about how horrible school is but think about being at 104 degree weather, dry and be sitting in school with no water or any food. It's a whole lot different than you would think it would be," said Johnson.
The concert will be on May 4.
