Dan River Water Quality Back To Normal
Danville, VA-- It's five months now after the big coal ash spill in the Dan River. Now, a representative with the EPA says the water quality is back to how it was before the spill.
They've taken more than 600 samples from the water to test its quality, and each one has consistently shown that drinking water is safe. The EPA also says the Dan River is now safe for recreation.
Also, after removing 2,500 tons of coal ash near the Schoolfield Dam, Duke Energy has removed most of their dredging equipment from Abreu-Grogan Park. Next they'll clean up the park itself. They hope to be done by August 1.
