Dan River, Martinsville, GW, Botetourt, Fleming FCP Highlights


Dan River remained undefeated, improving to 24-0 with a 66-45 win over Brunswick in the 2A state semifinals. Brunswick had won three straight state titles and had been to the state finals seven straight years.

Martinsville lost to Bruton 56-36 in the other 2A semifinal. Devonnte Holland, an ABC 13 Full Court Press First Team All-FCP contender, had 11 points in the loss.

Next Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at VCU, it'll be Dan River and Bruton for the 2A title.

G.W. lost to I.C. Norcom 64-53 in the 4A state semifinals. The Eagles' season, the first under coach Ron Parson, ends with a record of 25-5.

Radford (26-2) beat Surry County 68-53 in the 1A state semifinals. Nate Jones had 20 points to lead the Bobcats. Radford will face Altavista in the state title game on Saturday at 2 p.m. at VCU. This is a matchup between two defending state champions. In 2013, Altavista won the 1A title and Radford won the 2A title.

Justin Goode scored 25 points in Lord Botetourt's 58-52 loss to John Marshall in the 3A state semifinals.


In a slow moving and low scoring game William Fleming (22-6) outlasted Woodrow Wilson 38-32 in the 4A state semifinals. Fleming will face Lake Taylor, 42-37 winners over Loudoun County, in the state title game Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at VCU.

Desiree Keeling had 10 points (4-17 shooting) and 14 rebounds for Fleming. Gracie Doane had 13 points and 7 rebounds.

The state championships March 13-15 at the VCU Siegel Center in Richmond.
