Dan River Autism Awareness 5K Presents $41,000 Check to The Autism Education Fund

Danville, VA - Thanks to a month-long autism awareness campaign back in April, folks on the Southside raised more than $41,000 to help children and families dealing with autism.Organizers for the Dan River Autism Awareness 5K put on a campaign in April called "Turn Southside Blue". They sold blue light bulbs to bring awareness to the disorder and held a 5K run, among other events.They recently presented a check for $41,500 to the Autism Education Fund.The grants made from this fund are used to provide support for educators, supplement costs of educational services, and promote autism awareness in the community.
