Dad Sues School Board for $20M, Says Son Was Beaten on Bus

Bedford Co., VA - A man who says his son was abused on a school bus has filed a $20 million lawsuit against the Bedford County School Board.

According to Thomas Kilpatrick of Bedford, the bus driver and her assistant physically abused his son who has autism, back in September 2009. The boy was 11 at the time.

The surveillance video, which was provided by the Kipatrick's attorney, was taken by a camera on a Bedford County school bus. The video shows the driver and her assistant hitting the student with a fly swatter as well as kicking and beating him with their hands.

The driver and the assistant are also named as defendants and are no longer school system employees.

We'll have details from an interview with the family lawyer later.
