D-Braves Dominate in Season Opening Win
DANVILLE - The D-Braves scored four runs in the first four innings and starting pitcher Andry Ubiera took a no-hitter in the 5th inning in Danville's season-opening 9-1 win over Princeton Thursday night.
Victor Caratini, the Braves 2013 second round draft pick, had an impressive professional debut. He was 4-4 with a triple, two doubles, and a single to go along with an RBI.
The pitching was dominant as well. Ubiera threw five innings and only allowed two hits, one of which was a solo home run. He also struck out three and got the win.
Yean Carlos Gil, Matt Kimbrel and Ernesto Silva combined to throw four scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Kyle Wren, a 2013 8th round draft pick out of Georgia Tech, went 3-5 with 2 runs, and a stolen base.
The same two teams play again Friday night at 7 p.m.
