Richmond, VA - Tim Kaine has won the Virginia Senate seat, defeating George Allen Tuesday night.
Allen conceded the race after results showed Kaine's lead in the polls.
Richmond, VA - Democratic Tim Kaine has taken lead for the first time Tuesday night in the race for Virginia's U.S. Senate seat.
According to the Virginia State Board of Election at 10:30 p.m., Kaine had 50.16% of the votes.
Republican candidate George Allen had 49.65 % of the votes with 83% of the precincts in.
Kaine campaign staffers are enthusiastic, but it's still too early to call.
Gov. Kaine is expected to take the stage within the half hour.
According to staffers, Kaine has spent the evening with his family, while supporters await his arrival and speech in the Marriott Hotel ballroom.
It's a good crowd in the ballroom waiting for Kaine, and many say they are confident Kaine will win the open U.S. Senate seat in Virginia.
The crowd is gathering around the podium now anticipating Kaine's arrival.
