Crews Called to Early Morning House Fire

UPDATE: 7:00 a.m.:

Lynchburg, VA - Investigators say a house fire in Lynchburg was caused by an electrical malfunction from a deep freezer.

Crews were called to the 200 block of Spring Vale Dr. at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived they found the heavy flames along the side of the house and in the attic.

Officials say a family of four lived in the home, but only three people were in the house at the time. Their son was at a Boy Scout camp overnight during the time of the fire.

Officials say the smoke detectors woke up the family in time for them to escape.

Firefighters had the blaze under control within one hour.

No one was injured.

The family is staying with relatives for the time being.
