Lynchburg, VA - Crews continue to make progress toward making it safer for Liberty University students to get to Wards Road.
Tuesday, they punched through the other side of the tunnel so you can see straight through from Wards Road to LU's campus.
This will keep students from having to walk over the railroad tracks.
The pedestrian bridge over Wards Road has already been completed and is open, but Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. says there is no dedication date yet.
"It will be a lot safer for our students for years they have been cutting across the rail road tracks to get to Wards Road making their way down this steep hill and it was just an accident waiting to happen," said Falwell.
Crews hope the tunnel will be ready to go by the start of 2012.
