Forest, VA - A Crewe woman will keep her independence thanks to the help of a service dog.
Patty Ring has a rare disease that affects her muscles making it hard to walk and raise her arms. On Wednesday two companies stepped in to make Patty's life a little easier. The Milk-Bone brand and Kroger presented Patty with a check and promise to her own service dog.
That's not cheap we're talking $20,000 for one service dog trained by Canine Assistants.
Patty couldn't be more excited.
"I just feel so lucky that they saw something in me that I was worthwhile to give a dog to. It's really going to change my life I think," said Ring.
Patty did not get her service dog on Wednesday.
She will get her own dog this time next year once it's trained to meet her specific needs.
