Concord Man Charged with Stealing Church's Safe

Timothy Greer, Sr.

Appomattox, VA - A Concord man is behind bars, accused of stealing a safe from an Appomattox County church and destroying several historical documents that were inside.

Last week, Appomattox County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Timothy Greer, Sr., 54. He's charged with burglary, grand larceny, destruction of property and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The sheriff says he broke into Trinity United Methodist Church back in August, stole a 600-pound safe, and burned historical documents that members had been collecting for the church's 150th anniversary.

Greer is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Amherst without bond. He's scheduled to appear in court in January.
