Lynchburg, VA - The 100 Mile Challenge here in Lynchburg started a little over a week ago and tonight some folks were out trying to get their mileage up.
They met at Amazement Square and walked along Blackwater Creek Trail for their first community walk.
The purpose of the walk isn't just to help log miles, but also to train participants in the days leading up to the Virginia 4 Mile Walk.
"The biggest reason to do so much preparation before the event is to train to avoid injury, and to make sure that we're going to finish. We all want to finish and get the medal." Said Lynchburg's Deputy City Manager, Bonnie Svrcek.
So far 180 organizations and nearly 1,400 individuals are taking part.
