Lynchburg, VA.-- Friday night's prayer vigil was hosted by St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Family members of those suffering from the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan were given a moment of prayer for their loved ones during this difficult time.
St. Thomas More Catholic Church has been involved in other relief efforts in the past, including the earthquake in Haiti back in 2010.
This service was about more than helping those in the Philippines.
It was also to help those in the Lynchburg area to come together and help overcome this tragedy.
"The only thing greater than the devastation is the concern and the love that these people have for each other," said Pastor Michael McCarron.
"Prayers are always strong. When it comes to praying, That's I believe is the best," said Jessica Withers-Bennett.
The church will have a collection at all of their masses this weekend to raise money.
All those donations will be going to Catholic Relief Services.
