Commonwealth Games Volleyball Draws Strong Competition
Salem - Co-ed tandem volleyball is a popular event in the Subway Commonwealth Games that takes place every year at the American Legion post in Salem.
And the competition is plenty tough with players from the high school and college ranks, as well as the general public. This year's athletes included Roanoke Catholic's coach who's led the Celtics to three state titles over the past four years.
Aaron King, Roanoke Catholic Volleyball Coach, said "It's just a lot of fun. It's the biggest tournament that is played out here, at least nowadays it is. You see a lot of people you only see maybe once a year. People travel in from other parts of the state. It's the best competition usually in the summer."
