Lexington - Coastal Carolina stormed back from 14 down at the half to win at VMI 83-78 Wednesday night and snap the Keydets' four-game winning streak.
VMI broke out to a quick 15-4 lead and led 50-36 at the half. The Keydets knocked down eight 3s the first half, Brian Brown hit four in the opening 20 minutes.
But the second half belonged to the Chanticleers, they outscored VMI 47-28 in the half. Elijah Wilson poured in a game-high 26 points. The Keydets had a couple of chances late, but Coastal's defense stepped up and made some key stops.
D.J. Covington led VMI with 21 points and 11 rebounds, Brown and QJ Petersen added 14 points each, Rodney Glasgow chipped in 12.
VMI lost at home for just the second time this season, now 11-and-2 inside Cameron Hall.The Keydets drop to 14-and-10 overall, 7-and-4 in the Big South. Coastal Carolina improves to 15-and-10, 8-and-3 in Big South play.
