Lynchburg, VA - Parts of Wards Ferry Road in Lynchburg will be shut down starting on June 11th due to construction and won't reopen until mid-August.
Thursday, residents had the chance to weigh in on the project and offer suggestions. The construction will add two culverts underneath the road between Aaron Place and First Church of the Nazarene.
The project manager says they will not put up detour signs because traffic patterns for everyone will be different.
While road closures can be inconvenient, residents say they are thankful the way the city is handling it.
"I think it's great to get the community involved. I did hear a few people even thank the city for letting them be involved and letting them know about the plans ahead of time," said Jaclyn Baker, driver.
City officials also say these pipes will be large enough to accommodate the widening of Wards Ferry Road, which could happen a little later down the road.
