Danville, VA-- A huge Christmas tree exhibit has brought more than 500 people to a church in Danville.
Ascension Lutheran Church has their Chrismon Tree Exhibit up. The 19-footer sits in their sanctuary with 600 ornaments on it Each one tells stories about Jesus.
It started 56 years ago with a woman from the church who wanted to use ornaments to tell the Christmas story. Now, her idea has spread all over the world.
"We have people from all over, and we have contacts from all over the world with people who want to learn how to make these ornaments," Chrismon Secretary Heather Vipperman said. "Original patterns are still available, and people are constantly designing their own ornaments, which is the whole idea."
You still have time to see it. They have a tour available every night from 7pm-9pm. They also have a tour available on Sunday from 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. The exhibit will be closed on Christmas, and the last day to visit it is December 26th.
