Forest - More than 170 golfers took part in Wednesday's 7th-annual Challenged Sports Exchange Benefit Golf Tournament at London Downs. The Challenged Sports Exchange provides recreational opportunities for the mentally and physically disadvantaged in the region. Proceeds from the benefit golf tournament help provide uniforms, bats and balls and other things needed to run the group's 12 year-round programs that serve more than 300 individuals.
Mike Ion, CHALLENGED SPORTS EXCHANGE, said "We've come a long way. We started with nine participants in just one sport playing T-ball. We've branched off now into bowling, fishing, line dancing, handbell choirs. We do just about anything that any other child would be doing."
