CASA Selling Necklaces For Mother's Day
Lynchburg, VA - Are you still looking for that perfect gift for mom? CASA of Central Virginia is selling handmade starfish necklaces and ornaments. The necklaces are made by CASA volunteers and they come in a gift-box with a "starfish story". The story talks about a man walking along the beach picking up the starfish and throwing them back into the ocean. Someone asks him why he's taking the time to do that since he can't possibly save every starfish-- but the man says if he can just save one, he has done his job. CASA says this story symbolizes what they do-- save children who are victims of abuse and neglect.
"Each child that we serve at CASA matters. We might not be able to save all the children or prevent all abuse, but certainly working one on one with each child that's going through that, we can save that one," said Allison Wingfield who is the Executive Director of CASA.
The necklaces are $15, and ornaments are 1 for $10 or 3 for $25. They'll be selling them Saturday morning at the Community Market in Downtown Lynchburg. You can learn more about CASA here.
