Update: Three Hurt After Car Crashes Into Lynchburg Fast Food Restaurant

Update 5:34 p.m.

Lynchburg, VA - Police have charged the driver of the sedan that launched into the Langhorne Road Hardee's.

Captain Whit Clark confirmed that investigators have filed reckless driving charges against 76-year-old James Nowlin of Lynchburg. Nowlin was with his wife, when police say he mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal and ended up blasting through the window of the fast food restaurant which had several breakfast time customers.

Kelly Janecke, of Appomattox, was dining in with her mother after a doctor's appointment and had just taken her first bite of breakfast, when she heard what she described as a "bomb explosion."

"I thought we was exploding, I thought somebody took a bomb and blew us up, it was that loud," she told ABC 13.

Three people were taken to the hospital but as of Tuesday evening, there was no word on their conditions or if they had been released.
