'Canstruction' Opens in Roanoke Museum

Roanoke, VA - Teams in Roanoke used more than 26,000 cans of food to create art and bring awareness to our region's hungry.

The teams are involved in "Canstruction," which is on display at the Taubman Museum of Art.

The nine exhibits include interpretations of Mill Mountain, a portrait of Steve Jobs plus other recognizable subjects.

Right now the opening ceremony is getting ready to kick off with judges expected to announce the winner soon.

"It's a great opportunity to bring together an art event, the public and charitable giving into one event and it's been a lot of fun doing it," said Canstruction Southwest Virginia Chairperson Lora Katz.

The exhibit runs through October 12 with all the food being donated to Feeding America Southwest Virginia.
