Campbell County Woman Wins National Contest for Weight Loss
Campbell Co., VA - A Campbell County woman set out to lose a lot of weight. Now, she is inspiring people across the country.
Altavista's Kim Taylor is on a mission to help others shed pounds.
Taylor was like most Americans. She loved fast food and sugary drinks, but over time her eating habits were making her ill, depressed, and causing low self-esteem. One day she said, 'enough,' and has not turned back.
"I couldn't even walk up the steps to get in my house without getting out of breath," said Taylor.
Six months ago, Kim Taylor was tired, overweight and according to her doctor, sick.
"He said that you're borderline diabetic, all of your labs look absolutely horrible," said Taylor. "And I said, this is not a life that I want. It's time to make changes."
She started with her food choices. Taylor got on a meal plan called Organic Liaison eating 1200 calories of organic food daily.Six months late, Taylor lost a lot of weight.
"289 pounds when I started," said Taylor. "My current weight right now is 122 pounds."
She went from a size 26 to a size four.
"When I look at those pictures, I'm like, "WOW. I did it," said Taylor.
Taylor's confidence can be seen a mile away. As Maya Angelou famously wrote, "It's the swing in her waist, and the joy in her feet." This phenomenal woman has a renewed sense of confidence and sparkle.
"I'm able to cross my legs for the first time in my life," exclaimed Taylor.
Taylor documented every step of her journey. Her sassy home videos caught the attention of Organic Liaison and Founder, Kirstie Alley. She is one of five people in the entire country selected to meet Alley in person in the near future.
"Wow! Yes, I did it, I did it, I did it," said Taylor.
The contest Taylor won is called Camp Kristie Challenge to Change. Taylor will be flown, all expenses paid, to an undisclosed location to have a extravagant pajama party with Kirstie Alley and Kelly Preston, John Travolta's wife.
We will keep you updated on her progress.
