Campbell County, VA- Cars at the Campbell County Sheriff's Office are getting a makeover. The cars will be wrapped with a new design which will be the first change to the car in 20 years.
Sheriff Steve Hutcherson says the new design differs from the old one since both the brown and gold are reflective materials. He says this will help keep them safe at night.
The Sheriff's Office has also decided to add a push-bar at the end of each car. They say this will cut down on the cost of repairs when officers hit deer. Normally they hit about ten a year.
"We were having three, four, five thousand dollars worth of damage with the front impact of a deer. So for about three hundred dollars we are protecting the front end. So far with three deer crashes, we've had very minor damage. Nothing that even had to be repaired," said Sheriff Steve Hutcherson.
It costs about $400 to mark a car. The Sheriff's Office plans to redo about 15 cars a year until they are all up to date.?
