Campbell Co., VA - The American Red Cross is helping two people displaced after a house fire on Rainbow Forest Drive early Sunday morning.
According to Fire Chief Mike Mays, the fire appeared to be electrical in nature.
The house, located on the 1100 block of Rainbow Forest Drive, was not a complete loss, investigators said. Most of the damage was contained to the front right corner in the basement of the home. There was also smoke and water damage.
Chief Mays says the people inside were extremely lucky, because they had working smoke detectors which alerted the home owners quickly before the fire could get any worse.
The Brookeville-Timberlake Fire Department, Forest Fire Department, and Campbell County Rescue all responded to the fire, Mays said.
American Red Cross spokesperson Amy Whittaker says the Red Cross is helping the two victims with meals and a place to stay until they can recover.
