Cable & Phones Go Down After Tree Falls in Danville Neighborhood

Danville, VA - Homeowners on Aspen Street in Danville had quite a time getting their services restored thanks to a fallen tree Monday morning.

Around 7 a.m., a tree fell, blocking the road and knocking down power lines.
City workers and firefighters got the tree cleaned up, but the neighborhood was left without phone service and cable for more than five hours.
As a result, homeowner William Flippen had a power line hanging down blocking his front door.
"I said I've got a wire across my door, what am I supposed to do, you're talking about waiting until tomorrow. He says, "You can't get out of your house? You mean you don't have a back door?,' and at that point, I really got angry, " Flippen said.
Luckily, a crew did come out and cable was restored around 3:30 p.m.. As of 5:30 p.m., the phones were still down.
